ISRAEL EDUCATION
TRAINING PROJECTS
All details are carefully customized with the community. Robbie's experience is in building and running long-term training projects, providing materials, support, and transformative practical training.
“Perhaps it’s his British accent, or his phenomenal ability to be both very deep and challenging while also being very accessible and charming… he is the most professional educator I have ever worked with. He is hilarious, wise, witty and talented, and everything is intertwined. His teaching is blended in to his performative abilities, the way in which he understands the group and feels its social heartbeat is deeply connected to the many years of experience in education, and it all feels very whole when encountering him. He is a rare personality.”

FOR EXAMPLE,
I'M CURRENTLY WORKING ON...
Makom and Jewish Education Project
I have led this project for Makom and Jewish Education Project from its outset in 2016. I have trained a total of 100 teachers in New York congregational schools, and after a corona-hiatus I am beginning the same process with congregational teen workers.
Qushiyot is a 10-month comprehensive project, training participants in an open approach to Israel education that embraces the vibrant complexity of Israel.
-
Individual coaching and professional development for teaching Israel in part-time settings in grades 2-12.
-
Intensive 6-day workshop in Israel, based around Makom's Four Hatikvah Questions (4HQ) method.
-
Provided with and trained to create contemporary, meaningful, and relevant Israel curriculum
-
Address controversial issues and your own relationship to Israel
For the Sake of Argument
This is a combination between a writing project and an educational project. Together with Abi Dauber Sterne I have written a story book with a difference. All the stories are to be read out loud to a group or a family, and the stories themselves are designed to provoke a deep meaningful argument about an issue that affects Israel. The book will be published at the end of 2021.

As well as the creation of the story book, For the Sake of Argument has expanded into a series of workshops that train educators to work with arguments - for civic education and for Israel education. This involves developing theory, creating training programs, and advocacy for this approach in the educational world. I also oversaw the creation of five animated films built from the stories, for which I recorded the voiceover!
Makom and Moishe House Project
I have led this project for Makom and Moishe House from its outset in 2018. I have trained some 80 Moishe House residents, Without Walls hosts, and staff, in the 4HQ approach. I shall be working with two additional cohorts of another 80 participants in 2022

4HQ Israel Encounters is a year-long program of webinars, in-person gatherings, 1-on-1 mentoring sessions and one week seminar in Israel. The aim of this program is to equip Moishe House residents and MHWOW hosts with the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to create and facilitate meaningful programs about Israel.
